shannette-owens-picShannette has been in the field of HIV for about 10 years servicing and supervising both HIV Prevention/Outreach and Medical Case Management.

As a follower of the HIV epidemic she has, in the last two years, been involved in conversation and community action concerning starting a syringe assess program in Metro Louisville, culture competence in engaging with people who inject and the efficacy of Naloxone distribution to reduce the number of overdoses in the Metro Louisville Area.

In April of 2016 she joined the Kentucky Harm Reduction Coalition to actively educate the community at large about the importance of Naloxone and the lives it can and has saved.

In July of 2016  she officially became an independent contractor with the National Harm Reduction Coalition to provide Harm Reduction Training to counties throughout the Kentuckiana Area.
