This training program is designed to create youth outreach workers by engaging, educating, and empowering each individual with harm reduction principles and tools to prevent the potential negative outcomes of chaotic substance use. The young adult population is continuing to see an increase in overdose and transmission of infectious diseases rate. Data has shown the positive impacts of increased engagement of peer-to-peer contact within the Adult Peer Support Programs. We are confident that by applying the same principles, we will see improvements in the engagement of our youth population.

Outcome: You will have the opportunity to participate in a 6 hour, interactive, and hands-on training program designed to equip you with the tools and skills needed to become a Youth Outreach Worker.

You will walk away with:

· Understanding of substances and their effects on individuals.

· Skills to make healthy decisions.

· The signs of opioid overdose and how to use Naloxone properly.

· What it means to be a “Harm Reductionist”.

· Stipend for participation.

Upon completion, the you will receive a certificate of completion, gain eligibility for employment and opportunities to become a youth vendor at events with KyHRC staff.
